The Ontario Conservatives unveiled a new Home Renovation Savings Program this month. The program offers new rebates and expands existing rebates on energy-saving home improvements. Rebates to small businesses have also been expanded.
Clean Energy Canada states this is a “step in the right direction.” Energy Minister Stephen Lecce noted that we need more energy capacity, and the cheapest way to build capacity is through conservation.
If you want to call the Conservatives on their energy policies, they cancelled a similar program in 2018. This is six years late. Also, they should prioritize clean, renewable energy generation, as recommended in a report they commissioned and then buried. (See the last MediaAMP action.)
But hey, let’s give them credit for a positive step in the right direction!
When governments take constructive actions, they should get the kudos. It encourages more of the same.
Send a quick email to show your appreciation for Ontario’s renewed support for energy-saving. It’s a step in the right direction.
